In Oregon a community is shaken by a tragic shooting at Reynolds High School in Troutdale, which claimed the life of a male student. The shooter is also dead. Before the official start of the school day, 911 calls were made when an armed person entered the building. Police originally stated three shooters were at the scene, but confirmed later there was just one shooter. Parents frantically arrived for their children an hour after the school day begun. A physical education teacher was grazed by a bullet, but will make a full recovery.
Reports are still murky regarding the identity of the shooter, and if he was a student at the high school. Once the call was made to police, a hundred police officers responded to clear the building of students. It was reported the lone gunman was found dead in the school, unknown is if he died from a self-inflicted gunshot.

As police emptied the school, they found a person with a weapon on them, and that person was taken into custody, but police advised it is not related to the shooting. Today is final exams week for the students, and the tragic shooting disrupted stress of testing, and instead placed students back into the grateful arms of their concerned parents.
Some students arrived later, due to testing schedules, and were stopped by police in the parking lot. Local residents stated the town is involved heavily in community activities, and they never expected to see headlines of a school shooting in their town.
The town grieves the loss of one student, as school officials stated the boy’s family has been contacted. The school also shared counselors are currently available to talk with parents and students at the following locations:
- Wood Village Fred Meyer
- Mt Hood Community College from 1-9 p.m. June 10, and 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. June 11.
- The Multnomah County Crisis Help Line is also accepting calls: 503-988-4888.
