Sad news is stemming from the Boston Red Sox clubhouse. A tragic accident this past weekend took the life of Jack Lanzillotti. He was the Manager of the Red Sox Productions and Game Operations, he was also behind the award-winning Red Sox Report. Lanzillotti, 28, was enjoying a day out with his long-time girlfriend, Jessica Campbell, 27, in Back Bay this past weekend. The two were near the intersection of Beacon and Fairfield Streets, when two vehicles collided, and one vehicle flipped, and struck the couple. The Boston Red Sox released a statement today remembering the humble and kind man who was taken from this world much too early.
Red Sox CEO, Larry Lucchino stated Lanzillotti was always “good-humored,” and consistently delivered stellar results from his work. Lucchino called the Manager a “beloved member of our organization.” The club issued their heartfelt sympathies to those affected by the tragic accident.
The death of Lanzillotti has stunned his family, friends and hometown. The Emmy-winning manager and his girlfriend of seven years were strolling through the Back Bay area Saturday evening. The gorgeous weather prompted Campbell to share a picture online of the sunset. She was expected to run in the Boston Athletic Association 10K race the next morning.
At 9:15 p.m., the accident occurred, Lanzillotti died at the scene. Campbell was rushed to the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, but died there, due to the extent of her injuries.

Police advise they are still investigating the fatal accident to determine what caused the accident. Neighbors were saddened and angry at the loss of two young lives. Residents in the area stated speeding has become a huge concern lately, and the horrid accident is something they feared, and they fear it may happen again.
The two drivers involved in the accident suffered injuries, but are expected to make full recoveries. Police indicated they cannot release if more than two vehicles were involved in the fatal accident at this time.
Patricia Lanzillotti is grieving the loss of her son. She shared he and his girlfriend just moved in together, and they had such a tender love. She was proud of the work her son accomplished.
Residents in the Back Bay area gathered near the intersection to leave flowers and notes of remembrance of the young, loving couple.
The Boston Red Sox, a mother, a community, relatives and friends grieve the tragic loss of two young lives. Police officials stated the investigation is ongoing to determine the speed factor and the increased concern from residents.
Our condolences extend to the Red Sox club, the parents and families of both Lanzillotti and Campbell, and all those affected by this terrible tragedy.
