FIFA World Cup an Abomination as Player Wear Gay Shoes Says Priest

The FIFA World Cup is a gay abomination because the players wear gay shoes and sport “unthinkable” haircuts. That is according to Russian priest Alexander Shumsky. The remarks came as Shumsky was praising Russia’s defeat at the games, stating that it is better that Russian players do not participate in what he calls a “homosexual abomination.” He also stated that the bright shoes the players wear symbolize that they might as well be wearing “women’s panties or a bra.”

Shumsky went on to say that the FIFA World Cup makes it clear that is a concerted effort to “oppose Christianity with football” because of the gay, multi-colored shoes worn by the players. Of this, he claims he is “sure.”

His remarks are not the first homophobic sentiments expressed at the games. Recently, officials have been having a problem dealing with anti-gay and racist chants. However, FIFA officials in charge of anti-discrimination efforts decided that the chants, which included the Spanish word for “faggot” were not insulting to any specific player. The head coach for Mexico has come out and defended the use of the word.

Shumsky says the FIFA World Cup is an abomination because the players wear gay shoes that resemble the “gay rainbow.” He also said that the failure of the Russian players happened “by the grace of God.” Shumsky writes a weekly column for a Christian website, which is where he made the comments. He further went on to say that soccer has become a “new religion” with its own prophets, and that it is “disgusting.”
