It’s been a busy week for the NFL. Between rumored firings, to confirmed firings, to new hirings, the maze of who is going and coming can become pretty confusing. Below is what we have gathered for the most recent updates going on in the NFL. Check it out below.
Jaguars
The weak offense for the Jacksonville Jaguars tied into a pink slip for offensive coordinator Jedd Fisch. Coach Gus Bradley told local media the split stems from “philosophical differences.” Rumors suggest while the weak offense was a big part of the firing, players were not happy with Fisch’s standard on treatment. Reportedly, he was belittling rookie quarterback Blake Bortles consistently during practices, and had “no feel for play-calling.”
Jets
The New York Jets had a pretty horrible season, ending with a 4-12 record. With that kind of ending, it was certain heads would roll. General manager John Idzik, and head coach Rex Ryan were kicked to the curb. During his six seasons with the Jets, Ryan finished with a record of 46-50. Interviews are already in an upswing, reportedly Seahawks defense coordinator, Dan Quinn is in the running for the head coach job, and Eric DeCosta may be interviewed for the GM position. In other news, Ryan may land a position over at ESPN as a sports analyst.
Bears
Following the Jets’ lead, the Chicago Bears released head coach Marc Trestman and general manager Phil Emery after a dismal season record of 5-11.
Falcons
Atlanta joined the coach dumping festival by firing head coach, Mike Smith after a season finish of 6-10. Sunday sealed his fate when the Falcons fell to the Panthers in a stunning 34-3 loss.
49ers
Head coach Jim Harbaugh is experiencing a heavy news week. He was fired from the team with no public reasons, but the administration called the split mutual. This split was confusing considering the fact Harbaugh had a strong record. Have no fear Harbaugh fans, the Michigan Wolverines have scooped up the coach, and the University is thrilled by the news.
Which of these firings or hirings are most surprising to you? What do you expect for 2015?
