Harrison Ford Seriously Injured After He Crashes Plane

Reports are coming in that actor Harrison Ford was seriously injured Thursday afternoon after he ended up crashing the antiquated World War II training plane he was flying over a Santa Monica, California golf course. The performer, age 72, was reported to be stable when he was rushed to a hospital. Witnesses shared the actor suffered cuts to his face and head. So far, there has been no word if he endured any other injuries or what triggered the crashing of the plane. It appears at this time, Ford was the sole pilot and passenger in the plan.

Originally, it was reported that Ford’s injuries were described as “critical,” but those same sources have updated the information, saying the wounds were better categorized as “moderate.” Sources said the Indiana Jones actor had definite lacerations across his head and might have gotten some fractures, but that is uncertain.

Howard Tabe, who works at Penmar Golf Course, the area where Ford crashed, explained that the actor had blood all over his face but that there were two doctors who were there helping him, and verifying he was stable. Tabe said he put a blanket under Ford’s hip. The thespian’s plane crashed down on the golf course, which is located just to the left of the airport soon after take off, according to Ian Gregor, who is from the Federal Aviation Administration. He shared the news with the media, following reports of the crash.

Ford is an enthusiastic flyer of both airplanes and helicopters. He was in a previous another crash back in 1999 in a Bell helicopter. The incident happened in Santa Clara, California and was labeled as serious. In 2008, he spoke to the magazine National Geographic and said that the chopper ended up having a mechanical failure while he was practicing power recovery auto rotations. He explained that he ended up having a very hard landing. He said he had been with another pilot and that luckily neither of them ended up being injured. Ford said the other pilot, like himself, still enjoyed flying.

Ford was rushed to the hospital following the incident, media sources are still waiting for confirmation on his status. The Los Angeles Fire Department confirmed the airplane’s lone occupant was rushed to a nearby hospital. There were no other individuals flying with Ford. The actor has been a pilot for many years and is considered to be seasoned. Ford’s agent has been contacted for comment, but currently has not released a public statement addressing the rumors.

Ford has not only starred in the Indiana Jones trilogy but also is very well known for playing Han Solo in the original three Star Wars movies, and just wrapped up filming on the new generation Star Wars film last year.
