UPDATE: [10:30A.M. EST] The Myrtle Police Department has advised that Jalene Coward has been found. Currently, they are not releasing details regarding the condition of the teen. The investigation surrounding the disappearance is ongoing. Viral Global News will update the story with details at a later date.
[ORIGINAL]: Jalene Olivia Coward was vacationing with her family at the Palace Resort Ocean Boulevard this weekend. Per relatives, the 13-year-old girl left the hotel room to dispose of trash in the trash chute Saturday evening. Her family says she was ready to go to the arcade once she finished the chore. However, Jalene never came back to the room. Her concerned family immediately started searching the resort and contacted officials. The Myrtle Beach Police is turning to the public for assistance.
Here is the last known description of the missing teen:
- Jalene is 5-feet 7-inches tall and weighs about 95 pounds.
- She has black hair which was braided into a bun with red/pink extensions along the tips.
- She was wearing a pink tube top and black shorts when she left the room.
- She wears braces.
Per officials, Jalene was seen near the hotel talking to occupants in a red Chevrolet Impala equipped with chrome wheels and a Mercury Grand Marquis. Police do not have identifiable license plate information on either vehicle, but the pictures of the vehicles can be seen below in the “Missing” poster:
The family has created a Facebook page for their daughter. Some are leaving comments that Jalene’s personal page is showing updates - that information has not yet been confirmed by officials at this time. An alleged friend of a friend of Jalene’s posted to the family’s Facebook page she was found, and was texting her. Per the comments he did not want contact police regarding the messages received. Viral Global News left a message for the investigating detective on the case.
