Married at First Sight Experts Refuse All Blame for Their Failure

Married at First Sight, season two, ended last night in back-to-back reunion shows which revealed all three couples involved in the experiment have split up. MAFS season one resulted in success as two of the couples who participated remain married today despite rumors of rocky relationships, blow-up fights, and hotel dwelling for at least one of the season one cast members.

Still, given the apparent rosy outcome for two couples out of six so far, fans had high hopes for the second round of MAFS. Unfortunately, the whole season was an abject failure; a miserable experience for the viewers and some members of the cast. One woman, Jessica Castro, is “terrified for her life” according to her lawyer, after her husband Ryan De Nino was caught on a hot microphone threatening to murder her and her whole family. Although the experiment turned into such a disaster at the hands of the so-called “experts” who made these horrible matches, all four advisers have refused to take any blame for this tragic fiasco.

Last night, Dr. Logan Levkoff, who has conducted herself in the most unprofessional manner out of the four, threw the responsibility for the catastrophe back to the participants, saying “the experiment didn’t fail, they failed the experiment!” It was a moment at once hilarious and cringe-worthy, as fans scratched their heads in confusion over Levkoff’s accusation. After all, she was one of the people who, as she claims, put so much time into doing “extensive background checks and psychological evaluations.”

These “extensive” checks just so happened to have missed a DUI, a probation violation, an alleged gambling addiction, a man with an uncontrolled rage issue, a person said to be a pathological liar, and now, it has been revealed, an alleged animal abuser as Jaclyn Methuen has come out and accused Ryan Ranellone of neglecting to feed her pet for five days while she was away on a business trip.

How did the experts’ “extensive” and “thorough” background checks miss all of these problems? The most serious, of course, are the allegations against Ryan De Nino. Jessica now has a restraining order out on her husband and is considering legal action against the A and E network for what fans can only presume is alleged fraud on the part of the experts and other executives involved in the show.

Back a few weeks ago, a person calling himself NYC LAX correctly predicted on a fan forum that all three couples had split and that Ryan D. had stormed out of the reunion show. NYC also stated that the production of MAFS season two was extremely rushed and that the men did not undergo any STD testing. Further, he asserted that there was no through vetting process. Reports have declared that one of the men was chosen because he was friends with a season one cast member (a fact that Levkoff previously denied), and one person was chosen because he had done prior acting and modeling. Dr. Pepper had also revealed the shoddy casting process when she said they chose Ryan and Jessica for each other because they were “sexy together.”

It seems obvious to many fans of the show that the MAFS execs looked through head shots and matched participants based on their looks and prior experience rather than any “thorough” or “scientific” process. The fact is, the procedure could not have been all that comprehensive since it missed out on severe and even life-threatening psychological problems and multiple criminal acts on the part of some of the men selected.

Through it all, the experts have bashed fans and cast members on social media while at the same time issuing vehement defenses against their own lack of skill in matching the couples. Last night, Dr. Cilona, the show’s clinical psychologist, went on social media to bitch out the whole internet for being mean rather than offering any sort of statement of support for the cast member who is “terrified for her life,” or denouncing domestic violence.

Apparently, it is everyone else’s fault that the men of MAFS season two turned out to be alleged criminals/losers and that all three couples are divorcing. Everyone is simply engaging in “mean spirited commentary.” According to Dr. C, it appears, the experts’ complete negligence in this process has nothing to do with how poorly MAFS season two turned out. No, it is just the internet meanies who are causing all the uproar. He wants us to “take pause.” He wants us to “re-examine” ourselves.

Hear this Dr. Cilona and your band of neglectful cronies; and this is not “anonymous:” You and the rest of the experts are the ones who need to take pause. You and the rest of the experts are the ones who ought to “re-examine” yourselves. It is not us, it is you. Really. You paired Jaclyn with an alleged animal abuser who whined and cried through the whole show about missing his mother when Jaclyn had said she wanted someone who could match her big, confident and outgoing personality. You paired Davina with a reported pathological liar who had no interest in being married, who was cast through nepotism, who was arrested for DUI, and who violated his probation during the taping of the show. You paired Jessica with a person who verbally abused her through the entire season and beyond; who has now allegedly threatened to murder her and cut her and her family into pieces!

Are the fans going to make “mean-spirited” comments about the men who victimized these women? Are the fans going to make “mean-spirited” comments about someone who was reportedly caught on a hot microphone making vile and horrifying threats? YOU BET WE ARE! And as well we should.

Because you see, Dr. Cilona, domestic abuse, violence against women, spousal abandonment, suspicious motives, cheating, and threats of murder do not call for being nice to the perpetrators or the people who selected them.

It is obvious that the four experts appearing on Married at First Sight have no regard for these women’s lives. The experts’ refusal to accept any blame for their failure not only causes deep concern for the women of season two; it puts fear into the hearts of fans for the safety of the season three participants as well. Such denial of blame, unwillingness to take responsibility, and stonewalling/outright lying about the casting process is shameful. At the end of the day though, the experts are still taking home their fat paychecks while the women suffer. It is clear to see that money is driving this vehicle, no matter how much of a train wreck it is.
