After endless debates over whether or not the Apple iPhone 6 camera beats that of the Samsung Galaxy S6, we finally have a definitive answer. As part of a blind survey, the capabilities of each camera were pitted against each other.
Participants were presented with two photos - displayed side-by-side - of the same scene; one photo was taken using the Samsung Galaxy S6, while the other was taken using Apple’s iPhone 6. The participants were then tasked with selecting the photo that provided the best image quality. Of course, as it was a blind survey, none of the volunteers knew which of the photos had been snapped by the Apple iPhone 6, or which had been taken by the Samsung Galaxy S6.
According to the results collected by Phone Arena, Samsung’s flagship device topped the polls, with viewers finding Samsung’s Galaxy S6 camera to have beaten that of the Apple iPhone 6 in six out of six scenes. According to the tech site, the Galaxy S6 collected around nine times more online votes than the iPhone 6.
The Samsung Galaxy S6’s 16MP camera excels at low light scenes, and offers fantastic shooter time, while the Apple iPhone 6 has only half the number of megapixels.
Here are the overall results for Phone Arena’s blind survey:
First Place - Samsung Galaxy S6 (27063 votes cast)
Second Place - Apple iPhone 6 (3033 votes cast)
This means that the Galaxy S6 won by a clear majority, attracting around 90 percent of the overall votes cast.
It’s clear from a number of the images, especially close-up shots, that the extra megapixels afforded by the Samsung Galaxy S6 camera make a significant difference. While, at times, the Apple iPhone 6 produces some rather vivid colors, the Galaxy S6 provides superior clarity.
