Fallout 4 Is Close to Completion, Claims Pete Hines

With Bethesda having revealed Fallout 4 at this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo, and with under six months before the game’s November 10 release arrives, you’d imagine that the team is in the advanced stages of development. However, it comes as a bit of a surprise when Bethesda’s VP of PR and Marketing says the game is “basically done.”

During an interview, GamesRadar’s Leon Hurley took the opportunity to ask Hines why Bethesda had taken the decision to reveal the game so close to launch. Hines explains, quite simply, “… we felt like we could.”

With all the existing anticipation and buzz surrounding the game, the Bethesda boys believe they don’t need that much time to drum up interest. In essence, the hype and excitement has already been generated - particularly in light of all the recent Fallout 4 hoaxes and leaks - so there isn’t really that much Bethesda and co need to do.

“If we didn’t feel like that was enough time to generate the excitement that we expected and the interest that we wanted, then we would have announced it earlier. So part of it is because we felt like it was a big enough title that we could get away with it,” concluded Hines.

Pete went on to explain that it was also a more interesting and exciting way to reveal a game, as opposed to simply showcasing a trailer; then releasing a press release; then eking out more materials, many months down the line. “Part of it is because it’s way more fun,” argued Hines.
