Connecticut Father Survives Suicide Attempt as Recovery Resumes for Baby Aaden (Update)

(Update) July 8 5:00 a.m. - Viral Global News received an update to the tragic story of baby Aaden early this morning. His body was recovered from the Connecticut River miles downstream from the Arrigoni Bridge late Tuesday evening. Many friends and relatives of the family hoped Tony Moreno, the baby’s father, placed the baby in someone’s care prior to jumping from the bridge, but that sadly was not the case. This is a heartbreaking end to a story filled with questions for a judge who denied a desperate mother a restraining order, following death threats against her and baby Aaden.

(Original): Just this month Adrianna Oyola, 19, requested an extension to her restraining order from Judge Barry Pinkus in Middletown. She said her son’s father, Tony Moreno, 21, was a violent person and she had to protect her baby. Her request was denied. And now the body of the 7-month-old baby named Aaden Moreno is in recovery status after his father jumped off the 120-foot Arrigoni Bridge Sunday with his son in his arms. Tony survived, and was rescued by emergency crews, but they were unable to locate the body of the small child.

Search crews went well into Sunday night searching the murky waters for the child, but they could not locate Aaden. The search was suspended Monday evening, and is expect to resume Tuesday morning.

Tony’s family contacted police on Sunday and said he was threatening to commit suicide, and at the time, he had Aaden. The news became a nightmare for Adrianna who had pleaded with the courts to remove her ex-boyfriend from the baby’s life. In the restraining order she filed on June 17 she relayed the details of her relationship, including the verbal and physical abuse which started shortly after she announced her pregnancy.

“He has told me he could make my son disappear any time of the day” Adrianna wrote on the document. She said Tony threatened to kill her and she was “scared to sleep.” She was under control by Tony who would not allow her family to visit the baby, unless she received his strict permission.

That original restraining order was granted and was maintained until June 29 when the application came before Judge Barry Pinkus, who denied it. It is unknown why he did based on the details listed by Adrianna.

When police arrived at the bridge on Sunday, they claimed to see Tony jump but did not see the baby in his hands. Witnesses attested prior to police showing up Tony did have a baby with him, and was holding him above his head. Police have not confirmed the possibility Aaden was thrown into the river before Tony jumped.

Sadly, once Monday arrived, the rescue efforts for little Aaden became a recovery operation. Three local fire departments, the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection and two local police agencies are involved in the investigation and recovery process. In addition, police are confirming with relatives and friends that Aaden was not placed in the care of someone else.

Monday evening, relatives to little Aaden gathered many friends, family and residents together for a prayer vigil.

Sources report Tony was listed in stable condition Monday afternoon and was questioned by police. An arrest and charges are forthcoming following the tragic missing case and recovery of baby Aaden.
