As spring showers slowly faded to the growing warmth of the sun and children embraced summer break, a question lingers still for hundreds of families. Where is flight MH370? 16 months has passed without any significant updates, and yet it remains one of the largest, global mysteries. How could a Boeing 777 disappear with 239 passengers on board? Where did it go? Is the government hiding something? Nothing relating to the plane has been recovered. No debris, no luggage, no bodies.
Theories have escalated since March 8, 2014 when Flight MH370 disappeared from radar shortly after departing the Kuala Lumpur International Airport. Its destination was Beijing, a region where many of the missing passengers stemmed from.
Since the day of its disappearance, the search for MH370 continues. More than 20 countries have offered military support and private companies have stepped forward to search mapped and planned areas of the massive Indian Ocean, also known as, one of the most remote places on this planet. Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott spear-headed the search and between his government and Malaysia’s more than $60 million has been used in resources for the search.
