Hollywood has a way of engaging minds, transforming stories and inserting the creepy background music that sends chills down your spine. It was no different for the creepy doll Annabelle movie. It seems to be no different for Lorraine Warren, her late husband, Edward Warren passed in 2006. The couple may seem familiar to those who know about The Haunting in Connecticut. This haunting was documented in the much creepier show A Haunting, and eventually reached the big screen in 2009. It too deviated away from the true story, confusing viewers who watched the A Haunting series. More notably, the Warrens were also connected to the repeated made movies, the Amityville Horror, which was highly criticized.
A good thriller makes my day, I am a horror addict (minus the real stuff, naturally), and I even believe in the ghosts, spirits and everything in between. But, when a “true story” deviates so far from that stated truth, it makes it appear as nothing more than a Blair Witch Project copy, all in the name of money.

Let us clear one thing up - Annabelle was not a creepy, porcelain doll. She was a Raggedy Ann doll, who reportedly moved and write, but (okay we won’t release the details of the movie) but it varied in the movie. This variance alone reduced the credibility of the movie. After all, the aspect of the doll, since it is basically the star, deviating so drastically apart from the real deal, stops the storyline in its place.

Basically, if you are looking for the “true story” feel, you will not get it with the movie. The Fourth Kind was much cooler. The whole Annabelle storyline, including how the doll came into possession varies from the true story. The Warren’s website details the story which is a much creepier read than what appeared on the big screen.

If you are a horror fan like me, this movie will not fulfill the need for a paranormal thrill. The storyline behind the movie is intense, but once it hits the screen it is another average, fabricated story that takes the foundation but builds a completely different process to the ending.
