Phylicia Rashad is the second of two Huxtable “women” to speak out in defense of her former co star Bill Cosby and the sex drug scandal surrounding the performer as the total of accusers reaches 20. The other Huxtable female family member who went on record saying that her screen father was an alleged sexual predator, was Raven-Symoné Pearman who played the youngest member of the fictional television family in the popular NBC show that ran from 1984 to 1992.
Back in November, 2014 the 28 year old entertainer went on the warpath when allegations were made that she had been sexually molested on The Cosby Show. Headlines saying “Keep me out of this” were run on the Internet and printed press and the actress responded to these allegations with anger.
She stated that she and never been taken advantage of by Mr. Cosby when Raven appeared on the show nor was she molested afterward. The allegations were made by Hip-Hop Hangover the week of November 19, 2014. The publication, referred to as a fake news site by Daily News, claimed that the sexual misconduct took place when the show finished in 1992.
According to Hip-Hop Hangover, the alleged assault took place after the show’s finale when the actress would have been approximately 6 years old. The Internet site actually calls itself a parody site which specializes in satirical types of stores, but a lot of people were taking the reports seriously which prompted the That’s So Raven star to speak out about the false allegations.
At that time in the Bill Cosby sex drug scandal only one of the Huxtable “women” chosen to speak out about the allegations of misconduct and date rape being made against the star of the show. Phylicia Rashad has now asked everyone to please think about why there are charges of sexual crimes against her former co star and screen husband for aver 8 years.
Rashad spoke to Showbiz 411 and defended her old friend and coworker. According to the former Mrs. Claire Huxtable, these women are being orchestrated into dissolving a legacy.
The 66 year old actress was attending a premiere luncheon for the film Selma, which tells the story of the Martin Luther King march at Selma, Alabama and all the things that went into the event, and Phylicia pointed out that she had never seen her costar misbehave or act the way that the growing list of accusers claim.
Rashad says that someone is determined to keep Bill Cosby off of the television screens of America. The Do No Harm star claims that someone other than the female accusers have an agenda to keep Cosby “off TV.” When questioned as to why she thought that Cosby has chosen to remain silent about the charges, Phylicia reported replied with a question, “What would he (Cosby) say?”
She also implied that regardless of what he says, the media would go nuts, or as Rashad put it herself, think what the media would do with any statements made by the accused entertainer. As the second of the Huxtable women to speak out in defense of Bill Cosby and the sex drug scandal surrounding him points out, her friend and costar is so much more than an entertainment icon, he has done a lot for education as well. She feels someone is trying to destroy his legacy.
