Jaden and Willow Smith’s Interview is Creatively Brilliant

Some have misgivings on celebrities, I had them on their children. Until I read the New York Times article on Jaden and Willow Smith. Oddly, responses of “weird” and “odd” were bestowed to their answers, but when considering their ages - it appealed as not only creative, but a sense of individual brilliance. The interview starts out with Will Smith’s children discussing their reading material. Willow states she is reading “Quantum physics. Osho,” were Jaden responds he is immersing in “The Ancient Secret of the Flower of Life.” Wow. At 14 and 16-years old, their ability to seek and enjoy the reading material is impressive in its own rights.

The interview really spins into the concepts of mysticism as it continues. When the NYT inquires about the experience of life, and do they feel it is moving too fast, Willow replies time does not exist, as it is up to her to determine how fast or slow it moves.

The power siblings shared when they sing together, it’s as good as “chocolate”

The interview moves into if the teens feel their music has gotten better over time, there is where Jaden discusses the mind “has a duality to it.” When discussing creativity, the young singer stated that comes from “a place of oneness.” He states during those moments of creativity, people should not listen to others, because it will impact the way you think and respond, altering your state of mind into a duality process that has no place in the creative process. Regardless, what many people may think, the answers delivered by the Smith children are intriguing.

Willow shares she is not into modern music and novels, so she writes her own and reads them, calling it the “best thing.” Jaden chimes in his sister has been penning her own works since she was just 6-years-old.

When the topic of conversation moved into the spectrum of public education, it definitely became interesting. Willow and Jaden stated many of the kids who attend traditional school are “teenagery, so angsty” and school in itself is not authentic, because it ends. To them, state the famous siblings, education never ends. Willow shared she attended traditional school for one year and it was both the worst and best experience. She stated it was the best because she finally found out “why kids are so depressed,” but it was also the worst experiment, because she “was depressed” when she was there.

You can read the entire interview here. Will Smith has mentioned before he gives his children a free environment to absorb and learn the processes of life as they want, with no set restrictions. While many media outlets are poking fun at the answers provided the teenagers, they delivered a classy interview with creatively brilliant responses, that are out of the box and make you think.
