
She was known as the delightful nurse Margie Cutler on M*A*S*H, and played Julie Kotter on Welcome Back, Kotter, and recently played Opal on a made for TV movie, Looking for Mr. Right. Her most infamous role was on Honey, I Shrunk the Kids as movie mom, Diane Szalinski. For 50 years, Marcia Strassman charmed her colleagues and lit the television alive by connecting to the audience. Now, Hollywood and fans are grieving over the death of actress Marcia Strassman. The 66-year-old had been battling breast cancer and lost her fierce battle against the disease. Director Bob Weide took to Twitter to share the passing of his friend, posting a beautiful and shining picture of the actress.
The actress died in her home on October 25 in Sherman Oaks, California. Julie Strassman, sister to Marcia recalled the beauty and fulfilling life the actress lived.
Julie said her sister could “do anything,” from knitting sweaters, making curtains and dancing. She also had numerous friends and was consistently surrounded by the love of her daughter and family. Instead of sending gifts or flowers, Julie asks those who to give to provide a donation to a cancer fighting organization.
Welcome Back, Kotter has experienced previous losses. Ron Palillo who played the beloved “Horseshack” died in 2012 at the age of 63, after suffering from a heart attack in his Florida home.
The actor who played Juan Epstein, Robert Hegyes, died in early 2012 at the age of 60. The actor was reportedly not in good health after suffering a heart attack in 2010. Just two years later, he suffered cardiac arrest and was pronounced dead upon his arrival to the hospital.
The cast and crew reunited in 2011 when they attended the TV Land Awards in New York City. Fans across the nation are sharing their grief over losing the bright and beautiful talent, Marcia Strassman.
