Caitlyn Jenner (formerly known as Bruce Jenner) is finally “free” now that the new Vanity Fair cover has come out. That is because Caitlyn is featured there; revealing her true self to the world, completely, for the first time.
Famed photographer Annie Leibovitz captured the stunning images of Caitlyn, who is, yes, a conventionally gorgeous female. But it is not really Caitlyn’s outward appearance that makes her so beautiful; it is the glow that comes from within. Now that she is no longer “living a lie,” her happiness simply bursts through her eyes, which finally look as though they are at peace.
The woman formerly known as Bruce Jenner did not seem happy during the last few years. Her anger was readily apparent during episodes of Keeping Up With the Kardashians. In her own words, she was not “living my true self.” The stress and unhappiness of not being able to live authentically was obviously taking its toll on her, as an angry Bruce looked consistently grumpy. It was obvious that something was going on, but even her immediate family did not know exactly what her deepest issues were.
In fact, her kids and ex-wife Kris Jenner say they were blindsided when Caitlyn made it known to them that she was a woman inside, and that the gender she was assigned at birth did not match who she really was. Several of her children expressed disappointment at what they felt was dishonesty on her part. Their anger seems to have subsided, though, and now, the whole family, including Kris, is standing by Caitlyn’s side. The transition is complete and the world will now get to meet the real person who has been forced to sustain a facade for so long.
Caitlyn is overjoyed at her decision to live as a woman. Earlier today, she tweeted: “I’m so happy after such a long struggle to be living my true self. Welcome to the world Caitlyn. Can’t wait for you to get to know her/me.”
The reaction from the social media community has been overwhelmingly positive. Of course, there are some haters, but they have been drowned out by many expressions of love for the brave and beautiful Caitlyn. People have been touting her “courage” and “strength” as well as welcoming her to the transgender community.
