Johnny Manziel is the hot new quarterback for the Cleveland Browns. In team activities, the quarterback looked good and clean. During the Memorial Day weekend, Manziel hopped a plane and made a trip to Las Vegas. He partied with Patriots tight-end, Rob Gronskowski. The men took a picture surrounded by bikini clad beauties and it was uploaded to Instagram. Enter media mayhem. Many voices stated Las Vegas was a bad choice, and while Manziel was just recruited he did not seem committed to the team. Supporters for the young QB scoffed at the flimsy accusations.
Mike Pettine, the head coach for the Browns stated he was well aware of Manziel’s trip to Las Vegas, since the young player notified him of the planned trip. Pettine stated had Manziel participated in “something illegal, we’d have an issue.”
Offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan backed the coach’s words and stated all he did was tease the young player for not inviting him, “I’m just joking” Shanahan stated, adding the QB has “been working his tail off, ” but warned if Manziel “does stuff like that,” people will attack it.
The photo that got tongues wagging seemed pretty typical of any young, successful male:
Manziel’s partying ways is not something new, the Browns were well aware of it, as was much of the NFL. Overall, Manziel states he can separate his professional life from his personal life, and on Tuesday he proved that running 11 on 11 drills with the team.
Should Manziel be called out visiting sin city, and taking pictures among a bevy of bikini babes? Personally, this writer agrees with the responses of Yahoo Sports writer, Frank Schwab who wrote:
