Apple iPhone 6 Plus Pre-Orders Could Hit 42-Day Shipping Delay

Apple iPhone 6 Plus Pre-Orders Could Hit 42-Day Shipping Delay

Customers hoping to get their hands on the Apple iPhone 6 Plus could face a shipping delay of up to 42 days before receiving the newly unveiled device. The tech giant’s Apple Store website indicates that iPhone 6 Plus pre-orders will not ship until the beginning of October.

A number of iPhone 6 customers also claim they have received notification of shipping delays of up to two weeks. Reports suggest Verizon customers may not be able to get the 16GB configurations of the iPhone 6 in Space Gray and Gold until Oct. 14, while the 64 and 128GB versions now have Oct. 7 delivery dates.

Sources have told Viral Global News that AT&T may struggle to supply the 16GB configurations of the iPhone 6 in Space Gray and Silver, with 7 to 14-day delays in shipping expected. Similar shipping delays are expected for the 64GB configurations of the iPhone 6 in Space Gray and Silver.

Apple fans will realize the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus shipping delays are nothing new. Back in 2012, Apple’s hotly-anticipated iPhone 5 exhausted its pre-order stock within the space of an hour, resulting in widespread shipping delays. Meanwhile, last year, Apple decided not to accept pre-orders for the iPhone 5S model because of apparent supply constraints.

Apple iPhone 6 and 6 Plus pre orders started Sept 12
Apple’s website was plagued by technical difficulties, during the initial pre-order period for the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus.

As with the iPhone 5 launch, the company’s website was inundated with traffic. On Friday, the spike in visitors caused Apple’s site to go down intermittently, prompting some disgruntled customers to flock to social networks and vent their frustration.

Midnight pre-orders for Apple’s latest iPhone models commenced through AT&T and Verizon Wireless without too many technical issues. Meanwhile, the websites for Sprint and T-Mobile folded and remained down for nearly two hours after presales were expected to begin.

Apple revealed the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus on Tuesday, at a tech event in Cupertino, California. Both iPhone 6 models feature larger screens than their predecessors; the iPhone 6 measures 4.7 inches diagonally, while the 6 Plus measures 5.5 inches. The 6 Plus has a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080, while the iPhone 6 has a resolution of 1,334 x 750.

Although both iPhone models sport 8-megapixel cameras capable of capturing 1080p HD video, the 6 Plus will feature optical image stabilization tech. The 6 Plus also has a higher battery capacity, providing customers with a total talk time of around 24 hours on 3G; the iPhone 6 provides only 14 hours of talk time, comparatively.

The phones will also support Apple Pay, which the company hopes will serve as a suitable replacement to the traditional credit card. Apple Pay uses a Near Field Communication antenna to enable a contactless payment system, and will be compatible at over 220,000 locations. Whole Foods, McDonald’s and Staples are just a few of the stores that will accept the payment system when it goes live.

The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus two-year contract starting prices are listed below:

  • iPhone 6 16GB - $199
  • iPhone 6 64GB - $299
  • iPhone 6 128GB - $399
  • iPhone 6 Plus 16GB - $299
  • iPhone 6 Plus 64GB - $399
  • iPhone 6 Plus 128GB - $499

Apple has sought to buffer potential supply shortages by ordering manufacturing partners to produce between 70 to 80 million units of its large-screen iPhone models by Dec. 30. This represents a 30 to 40 percent increase in units of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, compared to the number originally ordered for the iPhone 5S and 5C models.

I ordered mine through apple late into the day and i still got a delivery date for 9/19/14. I read that most of the backorders were through the carrier sites not apple.com. Hope my shipping doesn’t ship as for not it states preparing to ship.

I ordered the 64GB 6 Plus at 3:05am (ET) and it says 10/31 to 11/11 which is pretty ridiculous.. what was the point of waking up early to order it?

It really is a shame, I ordered a Gold 64GB iPhone 6 Plus and the shipping date is 10/31-11/11 also, I wonder why Apple doesn’t make a lot more than they already need to just in case this happens. I really hope it comes a lot earlier than ATT is telling me.

I got the same thing, and I got done about 20 minutes after you. Now it’s different. My confirmation email says it’ll ship out the 19th. Order Verification on the AT&T website used to say the Halloween bracket. Now it’s saying Mid-October. I think they’re just guessing.

The crazy part is that they have all the damn phones already, its just the matter of getting the damn things shipped out!! Those Chinese people have been working on the iPhone 6 for MONTHS now, they are more than likely already done with the majority of there quote that they are aiming to hit! But apple’s bi**h a** just needs to get them shipped out!

Does this affect those of us who already preordered last night?

I preordered from AT&T last night at 4am, and mine says it will ship between 14 and 21 days.
