Late last month General Motors issued a recall of 33,000 Chevy Cruze Sedans in North America. The recall list is not over yet, and on Monday GM announced the largest recall list this year. In 2014 alone, GM has recalled 27 million vehicles. It is unknown if future recalls are pending. The newest round of recalls is due to faulty ignition switches, faulty wiring and fasteners. The recalls have resulted in three deaths, and eight injuries from several crashes. General Motors released a statement advising the accidents have not shown “conclusive evidence that the defect condition caused those crashes.”
The models of the vehicles encompass years from 1997 to 2014 and cover several model types.

CEO Mary Barra has come under fierce criticism, but advises she was handed the reigns and will demand accountability. There has been a big shakeup in GM and several top executives were released.
General Motors already has retained an attorney to create a compensation plan. Kenneth Feinberg, who created compensation plans for 9/11 victims and their families, and counseled on the BP oil spill, will work with GM to create a plan to help those who have suffered due to the recalls.
