The details of this story is horribly tragic, and we provide a reader warning in advance. 2-year-old Lorenzo was a sweet, innocent child who was being watched by his mother’s boyfriend, while she was at work. The apartment in Kansas City, Missouri was marred with violence this past Friday when Mirsad Hamidovic carried out acts of evil intent against the small and unprotected toddler. Lorenzo was reportedly lying on his back in his bed, when Hamidovic jumped up in the air and came down atop of the small child. He did this repeatedly.
But, the evil did not stop there. The 23-year-old murderer shook the child violently, when he slipped into unconsciousness and blood seeped from his mouth. Lorenzo’s head also was slammed against a window sill during the acts of violence.
Police Chief Darryl Forté spoke to the media this past Sunday, and said Lorenzo was a child of abuse. Investigators advised Hamidovic started the violence when Lorenzo was in bed, but pulled the toddler to the floor to continue his horrific acts. When the child began to vomit blood, Hamidovic severely shook him, but it was too late. To try to cover his acts against the child, Hamidovic wiped the blood from Lorenzo’s mouth and placed him under a cold shower, but Lorenzo did not wake.

He then rushed down the hall after 3 a.m., when the violence took place. A neighbor opened her door with several others who tried to resuscitate the toddler, as emergency services was called. One neighbor said the small child was turning blue, and she tried to breathe air back into him.
As Lorenzo was rushed to the hospital, Hamidovic was arrested by officers and held on charges of child abuse and domestic assault.
Despite the best efforts of the neighbors, hospital and attentive medical team, Lorenzo died Sunday due to the extent of his injuries. He suffered severe head injuries, with a bruised brain. Court documents show his liver was also lacerated which was linked to the violent jumping on his small body.
Lorenzo’s death will escalate the charges against Hamidovic to murder. He is currently being held on a $500,000 cash bond, and will appear in court later this month.
Hamidovic is a father to three other children. Investigators have not shared if he has a history of abuse or if Lorenzo was his biological son.
