CareerCast released their report on the top endangered careers future outlook. With the upcoming rise of technology, there is a possibility of pushing some careers to the border of extinction. The reduction of their needs are obvious by the numbers relayed. Saturation in the fields have limited promotions and growth in a time where employees seek something more in their work. Below is just a snapshot of the endangered careers list.
Mail Carriers
The median salary of mail carriers are slightly above $53,000 and by 2022, CareerCast states the need for mail carriers will take a drastic drop of 22 percent. The once demand of the U.S. Postal Office is in a decline, and many new employees are struggling to promote from their stagnant position.
Farmers
In a world of growing technology, man vs. machine is making man a loser when it comes to job replacement. Technology has superseded the need for farmers many times. Farmers enjoy a humble lifestyle of approximately $69,000 annually. By 2022, the industry of farmers will reduce by 19 percent.
Newspaper Reporter
The days of print are sadly bidding goodbye as the digital market explodes. Citizen journalists and freelance photographers are dominating media. Where reporters once earned $37,000 annually, by 2022 the pay and industry will face a decline. In just eight short years, 13 percent of the field will disappear.
Flight Attendants
Cutbacks in the airline industry might eventually lead to mergers. With mergers come the aspect of layoffs and elimination of jobs. By 2022, CareerCast states the airline industry will reduce by 7 percent. It is a trying time for fight attendants who already make a modest $37,240 annually.
Tax Collectors
Federal budgets are being reduced in the face of a rising deficit. In this situation, the once profitable tax collectors who earned over $50,000 annually, will face a 4 percent reduction in 2022. This can stagnant potential promotions and/or pay increases.
